Overton-Broad Connector

The Overton Broad Connector (OBC) will be a two mile, multi-use cycle track designed for pedestrians and cyclists. It will link the Shelby Farms Greenline with Overton Park and Midtown using Tillman Street and Broad Avenue and the connectors. The track will be designed to separate users from automobile traffic by installing physical barriers such as on-street parking and landscape barriers. This two-lane cycle track will be the first of its kind in the southeastern United States. Construction is set to begin spring 2013.



Memshop is an initiative through the Mayor's Innovation Delivery Team. Memshop works with entrepreneurs to transform vacant storefronts into places that attract shoppers and potential tenants while increasing neighborhood vitality.  


Memphis Shelby Crime Commission

The Memphis Shelby Crime Commission has created unprecedented partnerships with businesses, schools, neighborhood associations, hospitals, public safety agencies and local violence prevention organizations working to make Memphis and Shelby County a safer place.

Operation: Safe Community (OSC) is a roadmap to make Memphis and Shelby County one of the safest communities of its size in the nation by the end of 2011 spearheaded by the Memphis Shelby Crime Commission.


Mid-South Regional Greenprint & Sustainability Plan

The Mid-South Regional Greenprint & Sustainability Plan, housed under the Office of Sustainability, is designed to establish a unified vision for a region-wide network of greenspace areas including parks, greenways, byways, blueways, conservation lands, natural areas, wildlife management areas, open space areas, and other similar spaces. In addition, this plan will create a framework for regional collaboration for future planning activities.

South Memphis Farmers Market

The South Memphis Farmers Market (SMFM) is a community-sponsored and managed 3,200 square foot green grocer, demonstration kitchen and outdoor farmers market that will satisfy the healthy food needs of the immediate area and neighboring community in South Memphis which includes nearly 50,000 residents.


SMA Laundromat

South Memphis Alliance (SMA) clients are referred to as Dream Seekers, because we all have dreams and need hope for a future. Dream Seekers may be found anywhere, including doing what you and I do every day, taking care of the basics – laundry.

SMA’s office, next door to a laundromat, opened the doors for a unique opportunity, so SMA took advantage of that opportunity and got in the laundry business!

While clients are at the SMA Laundromat and Resource Center, located at 1044 S. Bellevue Blvd., Memphis, TN 38106, they may take advantage of various social services by SMA


Frayser Neighborhood Council

People living, working, worshipping and are the owers of property in the Memphis city limits of the 38127 zip code. An elected community government with the purpose of pursuing a better Frayser.   



Memphis Metropolitan Busniess Plan

Memphis and Shelby County will be building a more vibrant economy that is incresingly export-oriented, innovation driven and opportunity rich.  Regional leaders are currently developing a new economic development future in the rapidly changing global marketplace.  A planning model developed by the Brookings Institution and RW Ventures will jump start the process.  For more information, click here.  


Broad Avenue "Amphitheater"

After a long, tedious application process Broad Avenue Arts District won a prestigious grant from ArtsPlace America to transform an active loading dock into a space for community plays, musical and dance performances. The "amphitheater" will come complete with seating and landscape improvements along Broad Avenue.
