LIFT News: River City Capital March 2017

This month we approved Granville T. Woods Academy of Innovation for a $100,000 loan. Granville T. Woods Academy of Innovation is a charter school serving grades K-8. They are a “STEM” school whose practices are delivered through project-based learning ranging from legos to aeronautical engineering. GTW is the only elementary school in the state of TN with a fully-integrated STEM program developed by PITSCO with a proven track record for increasing student achievement.  Loan will help with operating expenses.

We are proud to announce that we successfully completed one of our 2016 goals with the hiring of LIFT/RCC's first Economic Development Director, a long-term goal of the organization. Mr. Anthony Young joined the LIFT/RCC team early 2017. In addition, we hired hired a new Business Development Officer, Ms. Ivy Hall Emechete. Ms. Emechete currently works for Leadership Memphis.  Prior to her journey in nonprofit work, she spent nearly 8 years in the banking and finance industry.  With her passion for nonprofit work and her experience in banking and finance, Ms. Emechete will be a great asset to River City Capital.

Mr. Young and Ms. Orrin, LIFT Grants Director, are working together with FUND Consulting to secure a grant for River City Capital.  The grant dollars would assist in increasing Loan Loss Reserve Fund and a number of other uses.
